GALLERIES > ART that SOLD

it started with the box and ended with the copper hand. A cedar planter box from Ikea got covered inside with Puget Sound nautical maps, had rods and dowels thrust through it, floated real, dried organic orange peels (I peeled them myself and ate the orange) on sticks with their painted borders and placed a couple of cheap, fake pearls on them. That metal-looking disk is actually a photograph, mounted on wood, of a colored metal part from one of my other pieces. How to finish it? As I reached in to adjust one of the pearls, I had my inspiration. I formed the copper around my own hand and the piece was suddenly transformed into, what I have come to believe is, ART!
