Project MSP
23"w x 58"h x 14"d

This creation commemorates the life of a most extraordinary man. An Air Force KC-135 pilot, a lifelong sailboat enthusiast, a fix-or-build-anything homeowner, a husband, son and brother beloved by his family.

Most of the memories were found in photographs and stories. So the challenge was finding a lot of ways to mount those photos. The overall shape for the piece was inspired by the KC-135 tanker engine. The half-cylinder that served as a curved wall to mount photographs was overlaid with ribbons of sheet aluminum with more images mounted on both sides. In the center is a globe with copper wire tracing the route of missions spanning half way around the world, with keepsakes from his sailing and military career mounted above and below on the cylinder. It's topped with the carved and backlit private code between lovers, "MSP."
