In the Spring of 2011, I took a R&F Paints class in encaustic painting (painting with hot pigmented wax) from Daniella Woolf in Seattle. This was one of the pieces I made in the class and it involved a little painting and a lot of media manipulation. I was both exploring some of the techniques we were learning in the class but also really trying to make an interesting-looking piece. I got to use a ton of R&F's black pigment to I did! Part of this is a transfer and part is a collage. I really like the blue string buried in the wax.
